Turkey Arrests Two Suspected Mossad Spies in Istanbul

Turkey arrested two Turkish nationals accused of spying for Mossad and providing intelligence that enabled Israeli operations. Investigators say the suspects built business networks, shared information on Palestinians, and communicated with Mossad through encrypted channels.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Turkey has arrested two individuals on charges of spying for the Israeli regime.

Turkish intelligence reported that two Turkish nationals were detained for allegedly gathering intelligence for Mossad and helping the Israeli agency identify targets, according to Anadolu news agency.

The suspects, Mehmet Budak Derya and Veysel Kerimoglu, were arrested in Istanbul by the Turkish MIT intelligence service.

Both men had long been under suspicion for working with Mossad and are currently being interrogated by police investigators.

Derya was detained while attempting to establish a company that would oversee three Asian shell companies allegedly intended to conceal the origins of products destined for Mossad-linked buyers.

Derya, a mining engineer, had opened a marble quarry near Mersin in 2005.

He reportedly came into contact with Mossad through an individual named Ali Ahmed Yassin after beginning international trade activities in 2012.

Investigators said Yassin operated an Israeli shell company and invited Derya on a business trip to Europe in 2013.

During that trip, Derya met Mossad agents who discussed potential cooperation. They suggested he work with a Turkish national of Palestinian origin, Veysel Kerimoglu, who was already on Mossad’s payroll.

Through Kerimoglu, Derya expanded his business in the Middle East and gained access to social and commercial networks involving Palestinians opposed to Israel.

Both men shared information they collected about Palestinians with Mossad agents.

They also provided Mossad with technical data and photographs of locations where they sought to acquire land, particularly in the Gaza Strip.

According to investigators, Derya used encrypted communication channels to send technical information to Mossad handlers.

In 2016, Kerimoglu allegedly proposed supplying drone parts to his contacts as a business opportunity.

They then contacted Tunisian engineer Mohamed Zouari, who was assassinated later that year in Sfax, Tunisia.

A Tunisian court in 2025 convicted 18 individuals in absentia for Zouari’s killing.

Zouari, an engineer specializing in drone development for Hamas, was reportedly targeted by Mossad.

Hamas stated that Mossad orchestrated Zouari’s assassination due to his leadership in drone and unmanned submarine projects for the resistance movement.
